During breakfast in Salida, Colorado we received a phone call from our storm chasing colleagues Reed and Joel (their website is www.tornadovideos.net) who informed us that central Kansas had just been issued with a moderate risk for severe storms which meant that tornadoes were a distinct possibility. On hearing this news we jumped in the car and headed on the 8 hour journey to Salina in central Kansas. Unfortunately the storms had lined out, which means dramatically reducing the likelihood of tornadoes. This did not put us off and so chased to the early hours of the morning, capturing more lightning photos!
