We are the UK’s most hardcore chasers of tornadoes, severe storms, blizzards and any other extreme weather events you can think of. We are a team of two - Martin Lawrence and Alastair Wilson. After becoming friends at Reading University we realised we shared the same passion for severe weather and knew immediately that being extremely close to these natural phenomena was our destiny!

It all began after chasing in the USA for one storm season, where we decided to continue our chasing in the UK to hunt the vast number of undocumented tornadoes that this country experiences each year. Starting in July 2006, we set our aim to chase any severe weather event and record the chases on this website for the benefit of the UK population. Keep up to date regularly with this site and you will see photos and video reports from the chases we undertake.

Alastair Wilson

Alastair (age 22). I am the photographer, navigator and web designer of the team. I have just finished a 4 year BEng mechanical engineering course at Reading Uni but have decided on a bit of a career change, so now I am working towards doing a computer animation course at a studio in London, after which I hope to get a job with a major film studio. I have always loved extreme weather so when the opportunity came to chase with Martin over in USA I jumped at the chance. From then I was hooked! After the USA I hit a bit of luck when sending in some photos of lightning to a local newspaper. The editor decided to run a story on our recent storm chasing experiences and this was when we decided to get this website up and running, to give you a window into the extreme storm chasing we will be doing. Now I have a taste of the hunt there is no way I am going to let these British tornadoes elude us. We will catch them, just you wait!

Martin Lawrence

Martin (age 22). I am the meteorologist and designated driver of the UK Storm Chasing team and am currently working as a meteorologist for a company called WeatherNet in Bournemouth, Dorset. I studied a four year BSc meteorology degree at Reading Uni with the final year in Oklahoma, USA. My whole life I have been fascinated by the weather in all its various forms, and so to have the opportunity to experience very extreme weather in the US was incredible. I chased 18 times across the central Plains with Reed and Joel of www.tornadovideos.net and saw three tornadoes along with 4.25 inch diameter hail. I am determined to see a British tornado and hope to have a long and successful career of catching severe weather with my chase partner Alastair. He and I will keep this website updated frequently and hopefully bring you up-close and personal footage of British tornadoes and other extreme weather that we capture.
